Raising Children

Compassion and a Heart for Service

Instilling compassion and a desire to serve others is an important part of raising children with Christian  values. By encouraging acts of kindness and involvement in service projects, we help them grow as  empathetic and service-minded individuals who reflect Christ's teachings in their own lives.

Age-Appropriate Service Projects:

Young Children: Simple and creative activities can make a big impact. Examples include making  cards or small handmade gifts for nursing home residents, gathering unused toys for donation  drives, and decorating care packages for deployed soldiers.

Older Children: For older children, service opportunities can foster a sense of responsibility.  Volunteering at local shelters or soup kitchens, organizing fundraising events for charities, and  participating in projects like planting trees or cleaning up parks can all be meaningful ways to give  back.

Incorporating Acts of Kindness into Daily Life:

Encourage children to help others at home by taking on small family responsibilities, such as  assisting younger siblings or helping with household chores willingly.

At school, children can practice kindness by reaching out to classmates in need, such as helping  with homework or sitting with someone who seems lonely during lunch.

Parents should model acts of kindness and compassion in their own lives, such as by thanking  service workers, offering assistance to neighbors, or donating time and resources to Christian  outreach programs.

Share stories of acts of kindness and discuss their impact. For example, talk about how a small  gesture can brighten someone’s day or build stronger community connections.

Ultimately, teaching children to serve and show compassion builds lasting traits of humility, selflessness,  and love, qualities that reflect God's character. These values not only strengthen their personal faith but  also empower them to be a force for good in the world around them.

We hope you've enjoyed learning some tips on Biblical parenting. We believe every child is a special gift, and we'd love to help yours learn and grow in a fun, loving place.
